Blindspots

Stop Repeating the Mistakes That Mess Up Your
Love Life, Career, Finances, and Happiness

Steven S. Simring, M.D. and Sue Klavans Simring, D.S.W.
with Florence Isaacs

How many times do we blame our mistakes and bad luck on factors beyond our control? In this groundbreaking book, a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist prove that most people encounter serious problems in their life because they cause them, themselves! Drs. Steven and Sue Simring show that it is possible to overcome damaging behavior patterns if one has the awareness and discipline to eliminate the emotional blindspots that cloud judgment and lead to faulty decision making.

This revolutionary program identifies the eight Blindspots: wishful thinking, trying to control an uncontrollable situation, believing in mythical rewards and happy endings, relying too much on others, being someone’s savior, allowing emotions to overrule rational thinking, misjudging how others perceive you, and missing opportunities. By taking a “Blindspot Inventory” readers will be able to pinpoint the exact blindspot (or blindspots) that are plaguing their lives. A Five-Part prescriptive plan then teaches readers to steer-clear of these self-defeating actions as they learn to:

• Move beyond the emotions that distort judgment
• Recognize whom to trust (and distrust)
• Understand how their own behaviors are interpreted by others
• Use appropriate timing to make good decisions

With personal and compassionate stories pulled from their years of clinical experience, the authors offer unprecedented advice, giving people the chance to change the direction of their lives. Readers will finally be able to break the cycle of bad decision making as they gain the ability to understand their motivations, putting an end to the sabotage of their future happiness and success.
